Poll Results on Professional Usage of Social Networks

After the discussion here and on Draftfcb’s blog, I asked visitors to answer a couple of questions in a short poll on the usage of social networking platforms. The poll is closed and we have some interesting results:

Professional Usage of Social Networks

Professional Usage of Social Networks

More than 70% of the respondents claimed to use business networks, such as LinkedIn, Ecademy or XING professionally. While this is no surprise based on the purpose of these networks, social networks (Facebook, Youtube et. al.) are ranked no. 2 with 59% usage, astonishingly higher than corporate blogging with 56%. Another amazing figure: 53% of all respondents are already using microblogging platforms like Twitter for corporate communications and only 4% of the users claimed to do nothing at all…

Another interesting fact: Over 70% of the answerers are using more than one of the mentioned platforms, which leads to another remark, that should not be forgotten: before you even start to engage in social networks with your brand, you should have a PLAN, as for any other type of media! Social media might be an incredible tool for a company’s business, providing direct communication channels, customer insights and the ability to measure the effectiveness of conversations very closely. But as we have a substantially growing number of social media platforms, participating can turn into a giant time waste, if you don’t have some sort of structure behind it.
